In the morning...

In the morning we will be getting up very early. Probably one of the only timew in our life it will be an easy thing to do! We will drive to our tiny little airport, get on a tiny little plane. And then a few more planes (much bigger this time) and head to a country far, far away. Where we have never been or even imagined we would go, and wait to meet our little man.
We are leaving our house, cat, and dog in very capable hands. We have the bags packed (mostly, still) and are trying to cross all the last little things off the list! Dan is still working (at 9:00) and should be off in about 1/2 an hour. I got home about 15 minutes ago! It looks to be a short night.
We ask for prayers for safe journeys, metting ALL connections, and just purely enjoyable travel. We will do our best to update from Addis, but I am not promising anything.

For those who want to know, there will be two airport meetings of our little man. The first will be on Januray 29 in Denver, CO. We will be changing flights and actually have to re-check luggage. We have a decent layover and numerous family and friends who would like to meet our little guy. For you, our flight info is: KLM (operated by Northwest Airlines) Flight # 6489 from Minneapolis to Denver arriving at 3:41 pm.

For those who are wanting to meet us in lovely Garden City, our flight info is easy: on Friday, Jan. 29, the 9:40 flight. Not sure the flight number or anything off hand, but you don't really need that when you are flying into GC!

We can't wait to be home with our man and introduce him to everyone here personally and in blogland! So long!

Almost there...

This weekend we spent most of the time getting things ready for our big trip! We packed on Friday night (for the most part). We are still waiting on some donations, so the packing is totally complete, but it is pretty darn close.
Dan spent Saturday at work, so I spent the day cleaning the house! It seems like it is almost never clean all at the same time. Well, this weekend I took care of most of that. Still need to sweep and mop, but it's so close... Yesterday was beautiful. It's hard to believe it's mid January in Southwest Kansas. We started out by having lunch at my aunt Rhonda's after church. It's fun to do and we got to say our 'good byes' to my cousin Michelle who is going to spend a semester in England! We are going to miss her, but she will have the time of her life! Then, we went home and Dan spent the day outside in the yard and I finished organizing the kitchen cabinets to fit new baby stuff! It was more fun than it sounds. Last night we decided to dive into a project I've been wanting to do for a while. We did a 'family' collage. We obviously don't have current pictures of everyone yet, but my guess would be that in the next few weeks we will and the wall will be done!
It was a fun and tiring weekend. We are extremely excited to get going and get our little boy, but really trying to enjoy our last few days at home just the two of us. I will post tomorrow morning our flight information for anyone who is wanting to know, so, stay tuned! T

Excitement!

Ok, the excitement is bubbling over! I am so anxious and can't wait to go get our little man! We received a note from a friend who is in Ethiopia right now getting their little girl from the same orphanage as our little guy! She said he is adorable, has lots of hair, and knows his name. She said he is giggly and was playing peek-a-boo with them. I am dying to get there and see him and hold him and love on him. We have our tickets booked and confirmed finally! I don't have it here with me right now, but will post the arrival info soon! I know we get into GC at 9:40 on the 29th. I will have to look at the Denver layover and post that info as well. I know a couple people who had mentioned meeting us there and that would be awesome! We actually fly out on the 20th at 6:30 am. It will get us there early, but also gives us a day or so of extra time in case there are any delays. We are praying for no delays and a little extra time in Addis to get settled and adjusted to the time. As you can tell by my rambling, I am so anxious to get going! I pray you all have a great day and I will post more info soon.

Tickets are bought and paid for...mostly!

Well, we finally figured out tickets and went ahead and bought them. It's going to be a long, crazy journey, but we are so excited. We have to call KLM (who we are flying with) tomorrow and book baby M's return flight (lap seat) from Addis to Denver. We have already got the Denver to GC part taken care of. We are actually going to be able to fly to and from our lovely hometown airport! We are so excited about that! Who wants to torture a kid and put them in their car seat for the first time ever for a 6+ hour road trip! Not I! So, hallelujah we were able to work that out as well! We are excited. Even though you know you are going, until you have bought and paid for those tickets, it still doesnt seem real. Now it is! We have them, they are paid for and everything, well almsot! T

Catching Up, Yet Again...

I know I said that I would post while I was on vacations. I had the best of intentions to, but that obviously did not happen. So, you will now get a picture update on our last month or so... Baby Shower thrown by Dan's sister, mom, aunt, and gma. Christmas with Dan's family in Aurora, family Christmas here in GC, Family Baby Shower, and Our week of Vacation in the Mountains. Super busy and exciting times. So here goes, we're going to let the pictures do the talking...
Baby Shower - 12/11/2009 - In Colorado Springs, hosted by my in laws. It was a great time and good to get together with everyone! We all had a great time!

My sister in law Trista, my mother in law Betty, and me at the shower.
Then we went up to Trista and Chad's in Aurora for Christmas. It was great to get together with everyone! This was 1212 - 12/13.
Me and Erin (my brother in law's girlfriend) - hanging out! Fun story, I knew her before I knew him. She was my manager when I worked up at Horn Creek before Dan and I got married. Now she is dating my brother in law. Too fun!

Then, Christmas! This was Christmas Day - 12/25/2009. My cousin Michelle threw all 4 of us that have had or are having babies a family shower! It was a good time! Brooke won a game and was super excited!
Grant just wanted the baby food after the game was done...
Our hostess Michelle!
2 pregnant, due in May (both with girls - my cousin's wife Nicole and my cousin Jenette), me with a picture of our guy, and my sister in law Margo who had her baby in November.
And us with spouses...
Christmas Dinner! - Kids table.
This is my cousin Michelle. She is the youngest of the six of us. She is getting ready for a semester abroad and will be going to school in England, outside of London. She will be missed, but we are all excited for her!

A full family picture for the first time in years!
Then it was off to Family Camp at Hermit Basin. This was my entire immediate family (all 20 of us!)

We hope you have enjoyed this update! We are excited for 2010 and what is in store for us! We get to go get our baby in a few weeks (tentatively) and can't wait! The Lord had done so much for us and we look forward to following his calling over the next year!
